Dec 20, 2019 Mossberg serial numbers are typically 7-characters. They have a letter prefix and then 6 numbers, like this: A123456 or Z654321. ALPHA comes before BRAVO, and 100000 comes before 900000. So far it looks like this: 500 / 590 / Revelation / New.

Okay, I have to register my firearms on base, and I am having issues locating the serial number on my Western Auto 310 AR (Mossberg 500A copy). Can anyone assist?

Bullockracing, I am sure you checked in front of the trigger guard,
if not try removing the stock and checking on the inside of the receiver ( where the stock and receiver meet)
a friend of mine told me he found his ser # there on his ,but it was not a 310 ar i think his was a 310 ab. it was also stamped in between the barrel and magazine tube on the receiver also. good luck

I know I spent a considerable amount of time checking last night, to no avail. I didn't look between the barrel and mag tube on the receiver, so I'll try that. If all else fails, I guess I'll have to start disassembling...

Well, no luck finding a number, so...
Still no love on finding a number, so I figured I'd better clean/polish/oil etc...
Not too shabby for a $145 shottie, at least the way I see it...

I know it probably isn't too helpful, but I had a mossberg clone from Montgomery Ward's (Western Field) and the model number and brand was on the bottom of the receiver in front of the loading port, between it and the mag tube. I know you looked there though. The serial # on mine was on the left side of the receiver.

In that spot, mine reads:
Revelation
Made In USA
WESTERN AUTO
310AR 12 GA.
I used the 'four-eyes' process, and none of us found a serial number, so it must be a much older gun than I thought...

Mossberg did not put serial numbers on any gun until after the Gun Control Act of 1968, and the single action bar shown in your breakdown photograph tells that your Mossberg/Revelation was made before 1970. Your base may be willing to engrave an identifier for you. Good luck, Bullockracing.

we have the same issue in canada with the mossberg shotguns made at the canadian Lakefield plant.
No Ser # on them.
